Meeting over sign law amendments

Hutchison residents will get a chance to put their point of view at a meeting about the towns illuminated signs, fascia signs, A boards and banners.

In light of a growth in new businesses, local councillors decided to overhaul the towns laws on new signs to bring them in line with the latest technology developments, especially pertaining to illuminated signs.

Proposed changes include allowing A boards, internally illuminated signs, banners and fascia signs.

The laws was last amended in Juns 1999.

The Planning Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Hutchinson Center behind City Hall to discuss the changes. As well as the public, manufacturers of illuminated signs, fascia signs, A boards and banners have been invited to the meeting.
